From the command-line it monitors sets of files and shows you when they change. You can use fileschanged in shell scripts to take action when monitored files become altered. In it's simplest form, you can give fileschanged filenames to monitor from stdin, and it will report when those files have changed via stdout. %track prog fileschanged = { version = %{version} url = http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/fileschanged/ regex = fileschanged-(__VER__)\.tar\.gz } %prep %setup -q %patch -p0 %build # configure program CC="%{l_cc}" \ CFLAGS="%{l_cflags -O}" \ CPPFLAGS="%{l_cppflags}" \ LDFLAGS="%{l_ldflags}" \ ./configure \ --prefix=%{l_prefix} \ --infodir=%{l_prefix}/info \ --mandir=%{l_prefix}/man \ --disable-shared \ --disable-nls # build program %{l_make} %{l_mflags -O} %install # install program %{l_make} %{l_mflags} install AM_MAKEFLAGS="DESTDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT" # strip down installation rm -f $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/info/dir rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/share/fileschanged strip $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/bin/* >/dev/null 2>&1 || true # install run-command script %{l_shtool} mkdir -f -p -m 755 \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/etc/rc.d %{l_shtool} install -c -m 755 %{l_value -s -a} \ %{SOURCE rc.fileschanged} \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/etc/rc.d/ # install dispatch configuration %{l_shtool} mkdir -f -p -m 755 \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/etc/fileschanged %{l_shtool} install -c -m 644 %{l_value -s -a} \ %{SOURCE fileschanged.conf} \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/etc/fileschanged/ # install dispatch tool %{l_shtool} install -c -m 755 %{l_value -s -a} \ %{SOURCE fileschanged-dispatch.sh} \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/bin/fileschanged-dispatch # create run-time directory %{l_shtool} mkdir -f -p -m 755 \ $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/var/fileschanged # determine installation files %{l_rpmtool} files -v -ofiles -r$RPM_BUILD_ROOT \ %{l_files_std} \ '%config %{l_prefix}/etc/fileschanged/*' %files -f files %clean %post # after upgrade, restart service [ $1 -eq 2 ] || exit 0 eval `%{l_rc} fileschanged status 2>/dev/null` [ ".$fileschanged_active" = .yes ] && %{l_rc} fileschanged restart exit 0 %preun # before erase, stop service and remove log files [ $1 -eq 0 ] || exit 0 %{l_rc} fileschanged stop 2>/dev/null rm -f $RPM_INSTALL_PREFIX/var/fileschanged/* >/dev/null 2>&1 || true exit 0
