The biggest thing it does is to expand on the join utility by allowing multiple keys in the join, working with more than one file to match to a base data file, working with unsorted files and providing a variety of flagging and aggregation options to summarize the results of the match. It is also extensible with Guile, so that you can do what you need to do at any point in the processing to adjust what's coming in or going out. %track prog combine = { version = %{version} url = http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/combine/ regex = combine-(__VER__)\.tar\.gz } %prep %setup -q %build CC="%{l_cc}" \ CFLAGS="%{l_cflags -O}" \ CPPFLAGS="%{l_cppflags}" \ LDFLAGS="%{l_ldflags}" \ ./configure \ --prefix=%{l_prefix} \ --infodir=%{l_prefix}/info \ --disable-nls %{l_make} %{l_mflags -O} %install %{l_make} %{l_mflags} install AM_MAKEFLAGS="DESTDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT" rm -f $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/info/dir strip $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{l_prefix}/bin/* >/dev/null 2>&1 || true %{l_rpmtool} files -v -ofiles -r$RPM_BUILD_ROOT %{l_files_std} %files -f files %clean
